Resolutions Revisited

2006 Dart Resolutions

  1. hit more 180's than last year (1 last year)
  2. hit another dead eye (1 last year)
  3. hit over 100 20's in 100 darts
  4. Complete Bob's 29 (Did 1 time last year)
  5. hit more hat tricks in league than last year (last year 2)
  6. Advance past the 2nd round in a singles tourney without bye
ok on the 180 front... I killed that one in the last week of league where I hit my 2nd 180 of the year... :-)

Dead eye... didn't happen... hit 2 doubles and a single several times just couldn't sneek the 3rd in...

Bob's 29... did it several times...

Only hit one... but I had quite a few 3 counts and at least one 4count on bulls... and 1 time I had 4 turns in a row with at least 2 bulls...

2nd round in singles tourney... well I would have had to go to one... somehow the whole year slipped by and I didn't go to any tourneys... Hmm... I started running (excercise) and that has taken up the time I would have went to dart tourneys...

2006 notes and review

I have gotten much better in the last year... my best is better and my worst is not as bad... my ave playing is about the same but alot of that has to do with how little I practice lately. The great... is that I haven't had any problems with my elbow in a long time. I even practiced now a few days in a row with no popping in my elbow... (came very very close to my 4th max several times)... oh I guess that was this weekend so that is 2007... back to 2006...

We moved up to silver and are holding our own... 3rd and a respectable 2nd... the third should have been a 2nd but we lost a few points on late scoresheets... oh well... The team that came in 1st moved up to the top division (gold)... so our division dropped the top and bottom teams... and added 3 teams so there will be no bye week this session... 1 team came in 3rd in their group last session (same level, silver) and the other two are unknown... So going into this upcoming session we are the favorites...

I have learned to throw much more smooth and with a much less jerky motion. I also have stopped sighting and now just aim... which amounts to lining up my arm and hand with the target... but I no longer care about the tip of my dart having to line up (up and down) with where I want to hit... it is much more comfortable... I think I have finally found a grip I like and now played with it for a whole session without feeling my grip is my problem. I have also figured out what causes the loose feeling I get when I get wild... it has to do with a lazy hand position and not "setting" my arm... kind of a pause in my setup where I bring the dart back.. then slowly bring it down (aiming)... and then pause for a fraction of a second... (or longer)... the key for me it to SET my arm at that point... tense my forarm/bicep just a bit but keep the hand/wrist loose (that is a biggy) ... and then my backswing doesn't go all crazy it stays in line... this was a big breakthrough for me... oh and lazy hand position is when I don't square my palm to the board...

League writeups... I threw a 501 game (doubles) with Ryan in the 1st weak that was in x darts... I threw a trip 20, 19, 18 to start a cricket game in week 2 and in the last week I hit a 180 in 501... so I got 3 writeups...

2007 Dart resolutions
  • Practice at least once a week during league.
  • Win every game I play one week durring the season.
  • hit over 100 marks in 100 at the 20's again.
  • Complete Bob's 29 again
  • Break 3 mpt in a singles cricket game again.
  • Win playing against an imaginary opponent that throws 2mpt at numbers and 1 mpt at bulls... best of 7... (tries to score when behind... close when ahead... 3rd dart point when 3rd dart doesn't close.)
  • Win playing 501 (best of 7) against and imaginary opponent that
    • hits 40 per turn and closes in 2 turns = 14 turns or 42 darts
    • hits 45 per turn and closes in 1 turn = 12 turns or 36 darts
    • hits 50 per turn and closes in 1 turn = 10 turns or 30 darts (actually hits 51)

My goals this year are practice related to help motivate me to practice more... :-)
